Music
We are very lucky here at St Michael's to have a fantastic music teacher, Mrs Ramsay, who works with us every Thursday afternoon, to give specialist music teaching to all of our children.
Mrs Ramsay teaches the children in paired year groups of Nursery and Reception; Year 1 and 2; Year 3 and 4; and Year 5 and 6 and therefore our music curriculum is planned over a two year cycle, covering all of the skills and knowledge required from the National Curriculum.
Our aim in music is for our children to have a full and broad experience, covering singing. listening to music and working with a range of instruments. We aim to ensure that our children learn about the very best in musical tradition from across the world and that they experience music from a diverse range of cultures.
We love singing here at St Michael's and the children know that I always talk about how good it makes us feel when we sing together! As well as singing being taught as part of our curriculum, Mrs Ramsay also now helps us to lead a Songs of Praise session each Thursday morning, where we sing together as a school, learning hymns and practising our singing skills.
